About KutchValley

A community built over generations.

Kein Aayo? It means “How are you doing?” in Kutchi. That spirit of welcome has been at the heart of KutchValley for more than two decades.

Who we are

KutchValley is a volunteer-led community service organization rooted in the Kutchi Oswal Jain community of the San Francisco Bay Area. Our families have roots in Kutch, in the Indian state of Gujarat, and share a commitment to keeping our culture and community ties alive.

Community cooking is a longstanding part of KV’s volunteer work. Members cooked for JCNC Pathshala in 2010, and by March 2015 had completed five Shala cookouts under Hasmukhbhai Patel’s guidance. Volunteer invitations welcomed KV members beyond families already attending Pathshala.

This work is carried by community members who contribute their time, skills and care across generations: preparing food, coordinating volunteers and helping newcomers find a place in the community.

Our beginnings

The KutchValley community began on February 14, 2001, with the first announcement of its email group. What started as a way for Bay Area Kutchis to stay in touch grew into a continuing network of volunteers, families and shared activities.

KV reached fifteen years of community in 2016 and twenty-five years in 2026. Its history reflects the steady work of volunteers: cooking together, organizing community activities and welcoming newcomers.

The registered nonprofit organization was established in June 2017, building on that earlier community history.
